Location
Situated on the edge of the country village of Shalbourne, on the borders of Wiltshire and Berkshire, The Barn has been expertly and sensitively converted from one end of our old Stable Range and is linked to the main Grade II * listed farmhouse, which itself has origins in the early 14th century. Although we no longer run a working farm we keep geese and chickens and have reverted our arable fields to wildflower meadows, around which there are footpaths for walking.
Visitors are welcome to share our heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months at our convenience or play tennis on the local court. The Barn is also centrally placed for exploring an historic part of southern England, Winchester, Salisbury, Bath, Oxford and Windsor all being within an hour’s drive. Closer to Shalbourne are the local market towns of Hungerford and Marlborough, both well known for their antique shops, the ancient stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge, the Kennet & Avon Canal (narrow boat trips) and the Savernake Forest. London is over an hour by train from Great Bedwyn (2 miles with free parking) and junction 14 of the M4 is approx. 7 miles.
